Kafironda Solar Park Project

Kafironda Solar Park is the first part of the renewable energy investments CMR Energy Limited’s envisioned business portfolio.

Kafironda Solar Park is a proposed development on agricultural land near Mufulira in the Copperbelt Province. The site is well suited to solar generation due to its flat terrain, low density of rural residential dwellings and proximity to existing transmission infrastructure.

Kafironda Solar Park will play an important role in increasing competition in Zambia’s energy sector and reducing the market reliance on fossil fuel generation.

Kafironda Solar Park 100 Mw
Utility-scale solar PV Project

Scheduled for completion in 2023, Kafironda Solar Park is a utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Mufulira District, Copperbelt Province of Zamba. A consortium of indigenous Zambian business and engineering experts established CMR Energy Limited to develop a 100MW photovoltaic project in the country.

Sezi Elecctrical Contractors, a leading electrical installation, civil and mechanical expert, is leading the consortium. The ground-mounted PV farm is expected to produce 166.8 giga-watt hours of electricity per year upon completion of Phase 1.
